Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's of Science degree or Technology degree, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be able to obtain Secret security clearance. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Rescue 21 (R21) IT (Information Technology) Support Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. You’ll get to work side by side with new and experienced teammates on Rescue 21, a United States Coast Guard program.
As the Rescue 21 IT Support Engineer, some of the opportunities you will have to use and grow your current skills include:
Support System Administration tasks which include Active Directory and Group Policy Object management/changes
Assist with IT work in support of the IT Technical Lead and IT engineering efforts
Lab Tech duties which include supporting the labs for hardware and software issues
Support System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and maintain patch levels in the Rescue 21 labs and the field
Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, database or utilities software
Analyzes, designs, acquires and implements projects for LAN and/or WAN systems
Configures, installs, and troubleshoots Cisco routers, switches, IP systems, and various other network and telecommunication components
Support the creation, deployment and testing of R21 images
Create, review and utilize Technical Documentation
Interface with the Customer Service Organization (CSO)
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development
Effective creative application of technical competence within domain of expertise
Effectively participates on the engineering work team and supports other team members concerning experiment design, materials, equipment setup/maintenance and related issues
Establishes work methodology and sequence to gather and organize data for review with appropriate engineer(s) in support of project
Gathers and organizes data for review with appropriate engineer(s) in support of project
Instructs customers (internal) in the operation and maintenance of the system
Maintains records, compiles reports, graphs, charts and related data in support of projects
Makes recommendations and coordinates and identifies resources required to meet defined project requirements
Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting and repairing of devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems
Provides technical expertise to customers, users or company personnel either at domestic or international field sites
Regular communication with other internal customers/work teams
Serves as technical support resource with a demonstrated level of narrowly focused technical competence within defined engineering discipline
Utilizes defined resources to meet project requirements

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Technology Degree or Bachelor's Degree in an engineering support discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Information Assurance) and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively more responsible directly related R&D engineering support experience, or have an equivalent experience.
