Description: This position?s tasks will include the inspection of aircraft tooling including jigs,
fixtures, dies, patterns, flat and formed templates, precision measuring and
cutting tools, shop fabricated tools and machined parts for proper material,
quality, machining dimensions and functional usability. Must also inspect tooling and machined parts for adherence to design, engineering,
specifications, standards and coordination with associated tooling and parts,
which may include continual surveillance of critical tooling by cycle proofing
and interchangeability proofing and investigation. Performs progressive layout
operations on parts, castings and forgings to evaluate machining and
availability of material for subsequent machining operations on parts involving
precision tolerance dimensions, coordinated dimensions, compound angles,
compound and reverse contours, precision tolerance dimensions and/or
irregular surfaces requiring three plane coordination from surface plate setups
and where no inspection jigs or fixtures are available.
Desired Skills: Experience using ZEISS CMMs with Calypso software, Hexagon CMMs with PCDMIS
software, CATIA V4 & V5 model interrogation and Statistical process
control and analysis
Basic Qualifications: The individual must have experience and be capable of making part setups on
surface plates, modular tooling, inspection fixtures, inspecting closely
coordinated locating points, dimensions, irregular contours, dimensional
calculations and computation of compound angles. Must also have experience
and high competency in using precision measurement tools and inspection
equipment such as coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), bore sights, optical
comparators, micrometers, calipers, height gages, sin plates, indicators,
hardness testing equipment and conductivity equipment. Must be able to
interpret engineering drawings, specifications and geometric dimensioning and
tolerance (GD&T).
