Description: The Military Support Programs (MSP) Software Director is responsible for leading a team of nearly 300 software managers, developers, software systems engineers, integration and test engineers, and hardware professionals in the design, development and delivery of software products to the program. The primary responsibility is for the Ground Element (GE) products that are used to command, control, mission plan and operate the MSP system. In addition to the GE leadership, this position is also responsible for the MSP Space Vehicle Flight Software (FSW) development & delivery to both ATLO and operations as well as the Space Vehicle Simulation (SVS) team. This position also includes responsibility for management of support to the operational site, including monitoring of health and status, anomaly resolution and, operational improvements as identified by mission operators. The total span of control of this position is >$100M.

It is critically important that an excellent working relationship with the MSP Customer is developed and maintained. This will be accomplished by establishing, effectively communicating and executing to a software development plan on schedule and on budget. Additionally, the MSP Software Director will be responsible for partnering with the functional engineering organizations to apply personnel resources and integrate the program needs with Lockheed Martin processes and best practices.

The MSP Software director will provide technical, schedule and cost project management throughout the development lifecycle from concept development to delivery. This includes developing and managing the operational budgets and related spend plans, leading the Software Risk and Opportunity process, ensuring resolution of any technical issues or anomalies, providing oversight and awareness of opportunities to accelerate and improve the schedule, cost and quality of software products, infrastructure, processes, and tools through implementation of a Systems Engineering approach to development and testing.

Partnering with functional Software Engineering, the MSP Software director will be responsible for hiring and retaining the talent to successfully execute the current and any future program scope. This would include: developing time-phased, skill based staffing forecasts, managing the team of leaders and individual contributors, filling staffing needs, implementing innovative approaches to staffing critical skills, effectively deploying resources, ensuring knowledge continuity planning for critical skills, managing talent pipeline health, and facilitating employee career advancement opportunities.

Basic Qualifications: ? 10 years of technical leadership with proven experience leading employees to perform productively and foster relationships in a cross-functional team environment.
? 15 years of technical experience with demonstrated expertise in development of Software Engineering.
? Experience developing and maintaining effective business and technical relationships across programs, suppliers and customers.
? Experience working programs with high levels of customer intimacy.
? Demonstrated expertise in developing and deploying a complex ground software system from conceptual development through delivery to an operational environment.
? Experience with design, development and delivery of flight software used on board the space vehicle system in support of mission execution.
? Experience managing technical, schedule and cost for a large Government program or product.
? Previous Earned Value Management experience, both discrete and Level of Effort (LOE) planning across multiple contracts.
? Experience with development of space vehicle simulations (hardware and software) used to validate the flight software, ground software and standard scripts employed on the vehicle.
? Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the proven ability to communicate to all levels internally and externally.
? Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex and large-scale technical issues/challenges.
? Demonstrated experience in developing technical talent and building pipelines to sustain technical expertise within the organization.
? Experience leading other leaders in the direct delivery of products to the customer.
? Must have proven Full Spectrum Leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees to perform
productively in a team environment spanning across geographically dispersed sites.
? Must be able to provide leadership that effectively guides the team through the challenges of a development program in a manner that instills confidence in successful execution.
? BOE and proposal writing experience.
? Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
