Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Material Handler. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation?s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Possesses necessary computer skills to proficiently handle routine tasks
May analyze production rates data, review stock records, and prepare purchase orders to determine stock status against production requirements
Communicates clearly with coworkers, planners, material managers, and internal customers
Identifies material shortages and support problem solving resolution
Documents and distributes scrap/ salvage parts
Helps set and work toward team goals
Coordinates and prioritizes individual daily activities
Supports continuous improvement activities
Actively participates in meetings
May handle and process classified material
Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift
May kit daily or weekly assembly picks as required by job function

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Clear knowledge of material planning, control and inventory methodology
Clear knowledge of bill of material, manufacturing/test documentation and drawing tree concepts
Clear organizational skills
Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
Clear customer service skills
Clear collaboration skills
Clear knowledge of the enterprise software and associated data
Exhibits clear adaptability and flexibility
Ability to recognize and meet schedule priorities
Clear knowledge of Government / Customer Property Control
Ability to track, expedite, and pick material shortages to the manufacturing floor
Ability to complete work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognize the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to follow established procedures on routine work, only requiring specific instructions on new assignments
