Job Description:


This department develops and implements complex architectures for data processing and computing environments. Our environments enable a large user base to develop. Our research initiatives in cloud computing architectures, virtualization techniques, and data lifecycle management technologies integrated into computing environments will enable how next generation complex applications like software development, testbeds, systems modeling and analyses, data exploitation, data analytics, and Big Data are designed and implemented.

Job Summary:

Classified Linux System Administrator: designs, implements, maintains and supports enterprise class, highly available, scalable and secure information systems and applications. The team is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven individual with a background in Information technology. Under general direction, responsible for troubleshooting centralized and distributed Linux systems by following established procedures to configure and maintain hardware, operating software, and business applications. Provides technical expertise to organizations in the area of system upgrades, process improvements, adherence to security requirements, and infrastructure improvements. Additional duties include: system hardening, life cycle planning, system maintenance, Information Assurance planning, testing and documentation. Manages an individual queue of trouble tickets.

Required Skills:

Bachelors Degree or 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree

Minimum 2 years’ experience performing duties as a Linux Systems Administrator

Experience with virtualization (e.g. VMWare, KVM, Xen, Hyper-V)

Broad technical background with Infrastructure, Networking, Storage Experience with scripting

- Customer service ethic
Good teaming and people skills

Desired Skills:

System automation tool experience (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

Software Development experience and background Cloud experience (e.g. AWS, OpenStack, Azure)

Knowledge of USNDS computing environment

Clearance Requirement:

Must currently possess a DOE L and be able to obtain a DOE Q security clearance
