Software Engineer I (Job Number:440833)


SAIC is seeking Software Engineers for a series of contingent positions supporting our Navy Education & Training Command (NETC) customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of NETC tasks supporting customer requirements including software engineering services for the design, test, and implement software, systems, business processes, system/network/software/hardware integration and cloud infrastructure. Detailed responsibilities include:

- Oversees the installation of enterprise client department-specific applications and systems. Ensures installations are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures and determines revisions or updates to installation as needed
- Installs, investigates and resolves routine and complex matters of significance with computer software and hardware equipment; installs and maintains Linux/RedHat servers, both physical and virtual, in support of established requirements
- Maintains current patch levels on all UNIX OS systems and keeps OS current in regards to DoD/DoN security requirements
- Performs software installations and upgrades; maintains Unix and Linux platforms and layered software packages; coordinates testing, upgrades, and configuration of system files and services
- Provides LDAP services across the various UNIX platforms and integration into Windows AD for the Training COI and the CDA COI to include: hardware specifications, installation, support, maintenance, system documentation, testing, performance reporting, and lifecycle reporting
- Analyzes, logs, tracks, and resolves complex software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to networking connectivity issues, printer, servers, and applications to meet business needs
- Coordinates and monitors troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems, documents system events to ensure continuous functioning, recommends courses of action, and implements as approved


- Clearance is TS, with ability to obtain TS/SCI


- Ten years of experience with supporting industry accepted Information Technology (IT) networks, DoD preferred
- Applications with NETC and Manpower Personnel Training and Education Enterprise (MPT&E) experience strongly desired.
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attain and hold Secret DoD clearance
- BA or BS degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, Business, Engineering, or Physical Science. Four years of additional experience may be substituted for a Degree, subject to customer approval.
- IA Contractor Training and Certification and Computing Environment (CE) certification may be required at the task order level
