The Methods Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing detailed manufacturing process plans for complex, high precision, aerospace metal parts and assemblies. The manufacturing process planning required will be in support of machined from wrought, secondary machined from castings, formed, forged or extruded parts, machined welded and brazed assemblies, and finish machining of additive manufactured parts. The Methods Manufacturing Engineer will actively collaborate with Tool Design, CNC / CMM Programming Groups to ensure a robust, cost effective planned manufacturing approach. This position reports to the Raytheon Precision Manufacturing Methods Engineering Manager at the Lemmon Avenue site in Dallas, Texas
Job duties include:
·Develop detailed part manufacturing and fabrication process plans that are cost effective and meet or exceed all customer engineering drawing specifications and quality requirements
·Plan part manufacturing process steps to include Part/ Machine Setups, Tool Holding / Design requirements, CNC Programs, CMM Programs / Dimensional Inspection, and Processing/Assembly instructions
·Support resolving complex manufacturing problems arising during the machining and fabrication processes. Includes investigation, recommendations, and implementing final resolutions
· Review existing part routings/ process approaches for producibilty enhancements and cost reductions
·Provide labor time estimates including Non-Recurring Engineering costs and Hours Per Unit for New Product Introduction, Engineering Change Notices, and Production Break Restarts
·Manage part manufacturing development budgets for Non-Recurring Engineering efforts.
·Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction through process optimization and product design improvements.
·Utilize SAP “Prism” software and MS Suite of Tools to create and manage manufacturing routings and work instructions
·Interact day to day in a manufacturing engineering team environment; Effectively communicate with employees at all levels from production floor personal to leadership management
· 4 years minimum manufacturing engineering experience with a focus on multi-axis machining processes of complex part geometries
·Proficient at reading and understanding engineering drawings including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance practices
· Experience with developing written shop processes, work instructions and procedures, as well as interpreting and processing engineering change notices
·Demonstrated problem solving ability in resolving complex manufacturing problems during the fabrication process, includes investigating and providing recommendations for productivity improvements
·Advanced experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
·Demonstrated ability to work within outlined budgets and schedules
·Effective interpersonal communication skills to interface effectively with engineers, planners, project managers, machinists, production personnel, customers, and company leadership
·Strong sense of urgency, follow-through and proactively takes ownership and responsibility for critical tasks
·The ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance after start
· 10 years minimum manufacturing engineering experience with a focus on multi-axis machining processes of complex part geometries
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience of advanced machining processes necessary to produce cost
effective, complex, tight tolerance, 5-axis aerospace parts
·Advanced experience with/knowledge of the following support functions: Manufacturing Engineering or Process Planning, Tooling & Fixture Development, CNC/CMM Programming, and Quality Assurance practices.
·Experience with any of the following software systems/tools: SAP, Microsoft Project, Pro-Engineer or Creo, GibbsCam, Siemens NX, PC-DMIS
· Knowledgeable of aerospace industry specifications (AMS, ASTM, SAE, NAS, and MIL)
·Six Sigma Specialist Certification or equivalent training
Required Education (Including Major):
Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
This position can be a Manufacturing Engineer II or Sr Manufacturing Engineer based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
