Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience). Agile experience preferred.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire or processing to begin upon acceptance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Expeditionary Fast Transport Entry Level Systems Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to develop and support existing integrated shipboard systems on the Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) platform. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Perform documentation and engineering drawing updates
Troubleshoot emergent production issues remotely and in shipyard environment as required
Contribute to the development and update of program-specific plans and processes
Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) meetings
Maintain schedule tracking of activities on assigned program
Generate and provide updates to various internal and external status reports
Generate and support engineering peer reviews
Support deliveries and milestones in support of program schedules
Periodically provide on-site technical support during integration/test and shipboard warranty availability
Contact with Deputy Program Manager Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Familiarity with technical standards
Good knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Proficient in AutoCAD
Understanding of Microsoft Windows Desktop (Windows 7, 10) and Server (2008, 2016) technologies
Self-starter with the ability to execute tasking with minimum supervision
Proficient ability in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
Proficient ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and effectively handle complex assignments
Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
Exercises creative thinking and ideation to advance business performance
Delivers innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
The ability to work well in a team environment including forming strong working relationships with program leadership

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of an accredited degree program in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
