Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST) seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, test, and deliver software for advanced systems that process modern high speed communications for the US intelligence community. The candidate will work with other engineers and technical staff on development of software intensive systems and products for the protection of our country.

The successful candidate is a self-starter, works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment, has a strong work ethic, and is flexible and adaptable in order to respond to mission critical needs as they arise. The candidate may have direct interaction with customers and must represent the company in a professional manner.

Required Skills:

  • Academic or professional experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • development experience for a real time operating system such as RTLinux, VxWorks, etc.
    • low level programming for peripherals/interfaces
    • creating/customizing Linux device drivers
    • building custom x86, PPC, and ARM Linux kernels
  • Academic or professional software application development experience using C and/or C++ and object oriented design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience in these areas:
    • programming for interfaces with firmware/FPGA based components
    • assembling Linux BSPs
    • porting and customizing u-boot loaders
    • creating/customizing Linux device drivers
    • creating root file systems for new board designs
  • Experience in build and test automation, and release configuration
  • Experience with Python, Perl, and/or Linux/Unix shell scripting
  • Experience with sockets, TCP/IP, secure SSL/SSH communications and/or web services programming experience
  • Experience with GNU and Eclipse based tool chains
  • Software engineering development experience for wireless communications and/or networking products
  • Understanding of signal processing fundamentals; knowledge of networking protocols

Required Education: BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
