Job Purpose:
To lead a specific portfolio of projects and towork in partnership with Analysts to ensure that projects are completed tostakeholder requirements, within budget and with minimal operationaldisruption. Direct and coordinate all project or program activities includingproject design, management, and review within one area or of one type acrossthe organization to ensure major project activities are completed on time andwithin budget.
Key Accountabilities:
·Monitor and control allocated projectresources, maintaining financial and progress forecasting in order to ensureprojects are delivered according to schedule and within budget.
·Implement project trackingmechanisms to be able to provide timely and concise updates on project progressto senior management and key stakeholders highlighting areas of risk andcapturing key decisions.
·Assist in identifying potentialconflicts in use of resources and other project scheduling issues and proposesolutions and corrective actions to overcome the obstacles.
·Develop and maintain effectiverelationships with key stakeholders such as consultants, procurement, and thebusiness teams in order to share best practice, identify potential new projectsand liaise with other working areas during project progression.
·Challenge existing project processes,technologies and systems to continuously seek ways to do things better in orderto achieve department and business objectives and drive greater efficienciesfor the business.
·Develop and maintain projectdocumentation, including the necessary approvals and permits where relevant, sothat an accurate record exists for review and regulatory purposes.
·Lead the project and programinitiation process by supporting the creation of the program charter andobjectives, developing assumptions, identifying all risks, calculating resourcerequirements and managing all interdependencies with other programs withinNational Grid so that any overlaps are eliminated and all transitions are asseamless as possible.
·Ensure all projects and programs continueto be appropriately assessed, designed, planned, resourced and scheduled in atimely and cost-effective manner in order to ensure best value for NationalGrid.
·Build positive relationships withmanagers, business units and other functions to identify projects and developthose into well defined business cases in order to realize significant costsavings, foster innovation within National Grid and avoid operationaldisruption.
·Negotiate and approve any changesto the project criteria and objectives after consultation with stakeholders toimprove project outcomes while addressing any operational concerns.
·Promote the philosophy of corporatesafe, environmentalism and efficient team working and development acrossproject teams in order to achieve business objectives and continuously improveperformance.
Work with keystakeholders and employee champions to develop and maintain a change managementapproach and plan, implementing and driving the philosophy, objectives andcommunications for a successful long term roll out on an operational basis

Knowledge & ExperienceRequirements:
·Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree orequivalent experience. Up to 7 years’ project management experience, preferablyin implementing large scale change in a customer focused organization.
·Solid knowledge of projectmanagement fundamentals and project management practices. Requires a thoroughunderstanding of program management practices and leading transformationalchange.
·Knowledge of operational systems andprocesses related to their area of project work.
·Extensive knowledge of companypolicies, procedures, field operations, organization structure, budgetaryprocess, regulatory processes and labor agreements.
·Strong MS Office suite, projectmanagement software skills.
