The Qatar Patriot Training Team Interpreter Lead will manage a team of interpreters performing as required in support of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training in Qatar.
The interpreter lead will manage a team responsible for interpreting Patriot Weapon System concepts and information from English to Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and vice-versa. This position will be located in Qatar with initial domestic tasks prior to deployment.
Hiring interpreters as required by contract.
Scheduling and day-to-day direction of resources in line with contractual requirements.
Training, assessment and performance development of interpreter staff
Ensuring interpreters are prepared and meet requirements for international deployment
Handling day-to-day employee issues during deployment
Stepping in as interpreter and/or instructor on an as-needed basis
Ability to work effectively and meet deadlines.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills required
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing schedules and environment.
6 years’ experience translating English to Modern Standard Arabic and vice-versa.
Ability to communicate fluently, orally and in writing in Modern Standard Arabic and English, to include technical terminology.
Working knowledge of MS Office (MS PowerPoint and MS Word).
Advanced knowledge of cultural standards and customs of the international region to understand colloquialisms and slang words.
US citizenship is required this position, and must be able to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance.
Demonstrated scheduling, organizational and leadership skills.
Experience interviewing and hiring personnel
Previous military experience in an Arabic-speaking country
Current knowledge of military terminology
Platform Instructional techniques
Required Education (including Major):
•Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience. Work experience may be accepted in lieu of BA/BS education requirement.
