The Safety Coordinator administers safety programs and training, works with outside vendors, internal employees and management. This position is focused on creating and overseeing a self-directed safety work team at the plant and act as a safety ambassador for fellow employees.
Position responsibilities
Act as a role model for safety and encourage fellow employees and contractors to work in a safe manner
Maintain injury and near miss records
Assist in administering safety related training and education
Partners with HR on all Worker Compensation items
Responsible for developing a return to work program and light duty jobs
Will gather data and create presentations, develop plans to close any gaps all based on the data gathered
Receive and record all accident reports, including investigation analysis
Maintain OSHA 300 log and Intelex system reporting for annual postings and other reporting
Coordinate all aspects of safety and OSHA training programs for facility
Conduct safety audits in accordance with company and OSHA regulations
Responsible for creating internal metrics for safety improvements
Back up for all Ammonia training
Back up for Corporate support and to Safety Manager
Comfortable and able to communicate with all levels of the organization
Work with safety committees to achieve pre-determined goals and objectives
Must be willing and able to work in a culture built around continuous improvement and change
Provide support to shifts as needed
Assist Safety Manager, as requested
Follows all safety procedures
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Standing, climbing, bending/twisting, pushing/pulling, reaching, walking
Work adjustable schedule to include working other shift to assist in team building exercises occasionally.
AA Degree or 2-3 years relevant work experience.
Minimum 3 years working as the responsible safety team member
Manufacturing experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Problem solving skills
