Sr Software Engineer - Military veterans preferred

Design and develop web-based Information Systems for use on US Navy Ships.

1. Plans, develops, tests, and documents US Navy Information System software.
2. Generates new Java code and corrects, converts, and/or modifies existing code to meet specifications.
3. Prepares detailed specifications from which code will be written. This includes software requirements documents, user stories and test plans.
4. Writes and updates technical documentation such as users’ manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
5. Performs a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems.

1. 5-10 years of programming experience.
2. Strong object oriented programming skills (Java highly preferred, C# may be okay for a strong candidate)
3. Experience with version control software, such as SourceSafe, Subversion, Git (preferred), etc.

Must have active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearancse

3. A proven ability to initiate, investigate and solve technical issues with minimized technical oversight.
4. Strong problem solving and debugging skills towards the identification and resolution of software issues.
5. A key interest and proven pursuit of a strong desire to increase scope and depth of technical expertise.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Programming languages – Java, JavaScript. Experience with Java Streams and CDI a big plus.
2. Relational Databases – PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server. Time series database experience a plus.
3. Operating systems – Windows, RedHat or other Linux Shell administration and programming
4. Frameworks – JSF, ReactiveX
5. Experience working with DoD and in a CMMI environment a plus.
