Review open purchase orders to fully understand terms to include delivery requirements, special handling, Haz-DG goods, final destination, project site and Incoterms.
Understand project scheduling requirements and facilitate appropriate corrective action needed to meet time line.
Communicate with vendors and update expediting system with current status of open orders.
Prepare and submit status reports to customers as per established schedule or upon request.
Understand Material Requirements Planning (MRP) strategies and techniques.
Under general supervision, resolve complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices regarding transportation, quality control, manufacturing, deliveries, purchasing and freight forwarding.
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers through regular communication and meetings; identify potential new suppliers through research, contacts or previous experience.
Actively participate in the Vendor Evaluation process.
Resolve delivery discrepancies (OS&D), identify root cause, measure and report trends.
Develop and utilize end-to-end supply chain metrics to measure cycle time, workload, analyze supply interruptions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Provide guidance and training to team members.
May require business travel to observe manufacturing progress or deployment to support project startups.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Skills required are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 5
years of industry experience related to expediting, transportation, quality control, manufacturing, project planning or purchasing.
