Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense top secret security clearance is required within 24 months of time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a High Performance Computing Software Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Key Responsibilities:
High Performance Computing Software Engineers conduct or participate in the research, design, development, and testing of systems software, software applications and/or tools to develop, integrate, test, deploy and support software systems that enable execution of High Performance Computing (HPC) systems and applications.
Representative Tasks & Duties
Implement software in Python, Java, C/C++, R, or similar languages
Participate in full software lifecycle development using object oriented methodologies
Develop and run software tests and benchmarks in a Linux environment
Participates in internal review of software components and systems
Porting and optimizing third party and open source software on HPC platforms to satisfy mission needs
Collaborates with project leaders and other professionals within the Engineering department
Strong written and verbal communication
Contribute to technical reports to be delivered to management and customers


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good ability with problem solving and analytical skills
Experience with Big Data Frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Accumulo
Experience with containerized environments
Development and debugging in highly-scalable, distributed, large multi-node environment
Knowledge of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Good ability to grasp and apply new information quickly
Shows initiative on assignments
Ability to be creative, innovative and responsible, and able to master good decision-making skills
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field; or Master's degree. Plus a minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
