Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Hardware Quality Assurance Engineer, with a background in space manufacturing to join our Scottsdale Mission Assurance team. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of in-process and finished products
Performs analysis of reports and test data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary
Provides technical review of documents, drawings, test procedures, and project plans
Perform test set-up verification
Compares defects against standards and recommends dispositions, verifies implementation of rework and re-test activities
Collects, organizes and analyzes project data, generates and/or reviews metrics
Performs audits, assigns corrective action, and verifies implementation
Participates in project reviews and meetings including technical design reviews, technical peer reviews, material review boards, change control boards, failure review boards
Participates in continuous improvement and problem solving activities within the project
Reviews documents/Drawings/Instructions for conformance to requirements
May provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employees
Witnesses and/or monitors test activities
Contributes to the completion of major programs and projects
Regular contact with senior levels of internal work groups
Works under limited direction
Contact with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering and Operations departments, and with project teams across the company
Frequent contact with external customers
Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems
Works as an individual technical contributor on one or more projects
Recognized as an Subject Matter Expert in a specific domain of expertise (e.g. hardware or software engineering, Electro Static Discharge Program)
Participates as an active member of the project team
Independently determines approach to solutions
Failure to accomplish results or errors may cause significant delays or require the substantial expenditure of resources
Travel may be required

Prefer background with hardware that is launched into space
Prefer Space Manufacturing Background
Strong use and understanding of domain (hardware, software, systems, logistics, manufacturing) methodologies, tools, and standards
Strong knowledge of AS9100, CMMI, ISO 14001ASME, ANSI, EIA, etc.
Highly skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
Strong ability to clearly report information relevant to sound quality engineering processes
Strong knowledge of interpretation of drawings
Strong skill in reviewing documents/drawings/instructions for conformance to requirements techniques
Strong skill in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally
Strong knowledge of use of relevant inspection/measurement tools and techniques
Strong computer skills, both desktop software and required factory or engineering tools
Strong knowledge of contract language
