SAIC has provided expertise in support of the many safety related programs under the FAA Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, developing comprehensive aviation safety information sharing and analysis capabilities. The SAIC Team is well positioned to continue their support of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Office of Aviation Safety (AVS) including providing database management support, data integration, advanced analytics, aviation taxonomy and analysis, and modernization of existing platforms and systems. The Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program is a broad multi-dimensional government/industry effort to enhance the safety performance of the aviation system through the development of state-of-the-art automated safety information/data analysis and sharing capabilities. ASIAS connects approximately 185 data and information sources across government and industry, including voluntarily provided safety data. This operation will primarily be located in Washington DC. 

SAIC is seeking a Senior Data Warehouse Specialist who will be responsible for managing activities related to the maintenance and enhancement ASIAS Advanced Data Architecture (ADA) using the latest commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) data warehousing technologies. The successful candidate will: 
  • Maintain and enhance the ASIAS Data/Information Portal. 
  • Maintain and enhance the ASIAS ADA data management program. 
  • Maintain the ASIAS COTS technologies supporting the ASIAS ADA architecture and analytical tools. 
  • Maintain and enhance the ASIAS integrated database management plan and the advanced metadata management system. 
  • Maintain, enhance and develop data standardization and data quality models, processes and routines to improve FAA’s information systems. 
  • Maintain, enhance and develop the ASIAS advanced data management and integration capabilities as a basis for adapting, developing, and evaluating analytic tools and processes capable of monitoring the aviation system for safety and/or security issues. 
  • Maintain, enhance and develop data models and analytical techniques that take advantage of leading-edge COTS knowledge management technologies to enable the FAA in capturing, structuring, and disseminating subject matter expertise and best practices. 
  • Monitor technical advisories from ORACLE for performance and security alerts and apply patches in accordance with ORACLE and FAA Security requirements. 
  • Maintain, enhance and develop Data Extract/Transformation/Load (ETL) Processes for ASIA’s source systems. 
  • Maintain and enhance the ASIAS system configuration to ensure acceptable performance, integrity and security when directed by the COR. 
  • Provide support/guidance to the ASIAS program staff in providing guidance to other FAA offices, United States Government and International organizations and the aerospace community on adopting analytical methodologies, tools and processes when directed by the COR. 
  • Provide support to the ASIAS program staff in providing technical guidance to organizations engaged in the establishment of international aviation safety data/information standards, taxonomies and methodologies when directed by the COR. 
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, metadata, data standards, and data quality metrics. 


  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

  • BA/BS as a minimum in Mathematics and Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering. 
  • At least 9 years of experience 
  • At least 8 years of experience with database administration, design and development, at least 5 of which is with Oracle. 
  • Must be well versed with data warehousing technologies. 
  • Must possess expertise in database and/or data warehouse administration, design, development, and deployment techniques. 
  • Experience with Oracle databases. 
  • Experience with visualization software and programming languages, including analytics methods for big data. 
  • Experience developing and testing ETLs and validating results with data owners. 
  • Experience with working in interdisciplinary teams. 
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to develop briefing materials, administrative, and logistics support. 
  • Experience with the aviation industry and/or aviation safety information. 
  • Experience with visualization software and programming languages, including analytics methods for big data.
