Description:System Safety engineer for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. Responsibilities include safety hazard identification for designs and changes to the Air System, hazard analysis, hazard mitigation including assignment of safety requirements to subsystem/components, and oversight thru hazard control verification. Lead contractual effort(s) for the system safety team to meet deadlines with high technical quality. Coordinate and collaborate with internal safety team, product development teams, company leadership, and customer entities. Contributes to growth of the system safety competency within the team thru on the job teaching and process improvement.
Must be a US citizen. This position requires special access and a Secret clearance after starting.
Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited college.
Experience as a aeronautical system safety engineer
Combined 10 years experience as a aeronautical system safety engineer, design safety engineer, and/or chief engineer in the aviation industry
F-35 aircraft design knowledge
Experience leading projects and teams
Functional Hazard Analysis
Willing to mentor junior-level team members
