Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret clearance is not required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Software Architect - Stores Management. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
The Software Architect - Stores Management is a leader in the development of next generation avionics platforms for some of the world's most advanced defense systems.
Responsibilities include:
Provide technical leadership to software engineering teams
Work with customers to develop and present innovative solutions for high assurance systems
Organize a team around the architecture and actively contribute to planning activities
Investigate new technologies and solve problems
Provide direction to integrate and test software and systems
Additional Responsibilities:
Exercise creative and innovative thinking to advance our business performance
Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
Understand the high assurance processing business domain to anticipate likely architecture changes
Support numerous programs simultaneously
Rapidly absorb new knowledge bases and incorporate them into new and existing architectures
Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy
Follow industry trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems’ services are consistent with or superior to, industry best practices

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively develop and lead software solutions. They must have strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to negotiate with stakeholders.
Candidates should be experienced with most of the following software development skills:
Architecting a complete software system
High bandwidth data buses and network technology
Embedded Linux architecture
Industry standards such as DO-178, FACE
Software requirements analysis
C/C++ embedded application software development in a Linux environment
Embedded operating systems including RTOS and partitioned OS environments
Network systems and tools
Safety critical software systems
Understand and support diverse software development life-cycles, including waterfall and agile models
Proficient in the use of debugging tools

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Government contracted avionics development
Software security engineering
PCI, 1394 or related technologies
UML modeling
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
