Serve as focal point and subject matter expert for the Program Manager Tactical Networks as a Field Systems Engineer in support for PdM Network Modernization, INC 1, INC 2, and SATCOM networks. Identify and report problems and discrepancies to the Project Manager (PM) or headquarters functional managers. Recommend resolutions when unable to resolve problems. Manage and document systems configurations, trouble incidents, test procedures, and test execution/results. Be able to configure, validate and test any Tactical Networks systems delivered to units. Exercise technical leadership to obtain agreement on required actions, schedules and the resolution of conflicting points of view concerning support operations and Tactical Networks systems. Coordinate system development tasks with other program System Engineering leads based on integration challenges and/or new requirements. Provide systems engineering oversight of the development of development and testing of SATCOM systems, baseband networking equipment, and software development. Coordinate across the embedded support team to obtain concurrence and to implement plans of action to accomplish PM objectives. Represent the PM Tactical Network at planning conferences conducted by the Unit or other organizations. Collaborate with leadership and representatives from stakeholder organizations at all levels in order to coordinate and/or integrate PM operations and objectives. Develop and present briefings as required unit personnel regarding current status of Systems Engineering and Network Architecture planning, and/or test efforts. Support network planning, network set up, configuration, troubleshooting and testing as well as teardown. Work closely with unit CFSRs and S6 staff as well as other personnel to coordinate activities.
Positions may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
Applicants must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar science equivalent. Degree can substituted by 10+ years’ experience in configuring and/or maintaining WIN-T equipment. Knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and methodologies to include military network and communications systems engineering. Knowledge of WIN-T systems, to include the JNN, Cisco routers, switches, ASA firewalls, Call Manager, and IP voice networks, is required.
Knowledge in network services such as DNS, DHCP, Mail, Active Directory, SharePoint, and other user services. Specialized experience gained performing work as an engineer in industry or as an active, reserve or National Guard unit is desired. Experienced in PdM Network Modernization products is desired. Experience in acquisition (Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering [SPRDE]).
