JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will provide cloud engineering support to multiple teams in Austin, TX, to include supporting Pilot Training Next (PTN) for the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) for the USAF, among other projects. AETC is venturing to explore the ways in which existing and emerging technologies, including blended and data-centric education, can revolutionize learning and decrease the time and cost of training without sacrificing the quality. Some technologies that will be employed include augmented and virtual reality, advanced biometrics, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. Additional projects may include working at Capital Factory in Austin, other AETC- affiliated projects, AFWERX projects, and Army Futures Command ventures. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for implementing product, productivity, and quality in the development of software products.
Assist with leading cultural change for cloud adoption.
Assist with covering development and coordination of cloud architectures.
Develop cloud strategies and coordinating adoption of cloud-based solutions
Experience using cloud native tools and utilizing them to meet the needs of customers and the organization.
Architect and design systems, build out proof of concepts, and compare and contrast technology alternatives.
Develop cloud based solutions.
Debug and troubleshoot product issues, and address customer and partner needs.
Research and test solutions to solve customer technical obstacles.
Develop/research big data solution for collected simulator and biometrics data
Validate recommendations/solutions and ensure the right partners are engaged to evolve the exploitation capabilities.
Actively contribute your knowledge and expertise of modern software development techniques and technology to help plan the development and design of cloud-based architectures.
Design services that meet customers’ demands in a fast-moving environment.
Identify and address key engineering decision points.
Identify and implement development frameworks and technologies, while promoting best practices.
Ability to work and communicate effectively and influence stakeholders in internal and external engineering and IT teams.
Automate the environment provisioning, test-automation, deployment-automation processes
Drive Agile development processes to enable continuous delivery and velocity
Work with the team of developers to architect the application and model the persistence schema for scalability.
Work to lay out and validate the technology execution with leadership to ensure scalability, stability, and growth
Support effective change management for all hosted applications to establish and maintain consistency of each application's performance and its functional and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
5 years’ experience in Cloud Architect will lead and oversee the planning and development of cloud services architectures.
They ensure analysis of cloud services are conducted and prioritized to ensure the Government properly architects business and mission solutions using cloud based systems and services.
Broad-spectrum cloud engineering professional with an emphasis on cloud architecture and systems engineering with proficiency in cloud-based security.
The cloud engineer understands cloud and pre-cloud architectures and is able to advise product owners and software engineers in migrating software to the cloud using the appropriate strategy (rehost, replatform, refactor, etc).
Understands and implements the various cloud-based XaaS services (software-, platform-, infrastructure-as-a- service, etc).
Understands and implements cloud native service offerings (database, search, scaling).
Expert experience in cloud-based systems architecting.
