Job Purpose

The role exists to provide strategic direction and a single point of contact both externally (for customers / Industry) and internally (all levels within the business). This will ensure that we provide the right level of service to our customers whilst managing our contractual commitments and inform our capital spend.


Band C:

A competitive salary dependent on experience.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. Key Accountabilities

  • Develop ET’s customer strategy for the relevant sector, anticipating customer need and translating that into actionable business insight and priorities.
  • Manage the customer relationships for the relevant sector, seeking to align B2B activities to mutual advantage.
  • Working with others (marketing; charging; policy; customer services) to ensure that we have a competitive position within the industry that enables us to be the TO of choice.
  • Ensure a responsive service for new enquries into our business, delivering competitive offers of connection application to our customers through managing the scheme team, to secure installed capacity on to our networks through delivering an economic, efficient and appropriate design solution (SQSS) through to the MITS.
  • Manage ET’s contractual position, including the release of offers through to detail design, ensuring that our spend is protected as allowed within the current regulatory and industry frameworks and influencing code change to the advantage of ET and the wider industry.
  • Represent ET at appropriate external forums (Industry, Customer, Marketing), ensuring that our position is defined, understood and leveraged to deliver value for the business and wider industry.
  • Manage a multifunctional team to ensure that National Grid is responsive to our customers, C.Sat returns are maximised and our business secures growth.
  • Manage Connection License obligations for the business, ensuring not only compliance, but best in class performance across the industry

Technical / Specialist Skills and Experience

  • A sound grasp of the energy industry and the potential future trends.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory, commercial and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent knowledge of the capital investment development processes


The ideal incumbent will have occupied a senior commercial role in the past and will have a demonstratable track record of completing successful negotiations. The ability to lead a team a multidiscipline team to deliver a single result is also a pre-requisite.


The incumbent should be degree qualified and possess project management  experience
