Position:  849-Nuclear Engineer Type:  Full Time Location:  San Diego, California

This position is responsible for providing Nuclear Engineering-based expertise in support of US Government programs. The candidate will: provide subject matter expertise and guidance on neutron interrogation; evaluate and provide feedback regarding the most effective ways to leverage the potential value of SBIR technologies in support of the Government client; provide insight into topics which directly affect the operational effectiveness of the given system; provide technical insight of systems to facilitate further development; employ mathematical and statistical techniques to quantify data sets to fully inform decision makers; conduct analytical, detail-oriented, problem solving and independent work demonstrating excellent time-management and communications skills; gather, collect, maintain and process data from different sources in an organized fashion; critically evaluate the specialized knowledge of neutron interrogation and identify potential new areas to explore; communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering or related fields
  • Masters of Science degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or related field or
  • Graduate of Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Program pipeline to include Prototype

Experience/ Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in nuclear operations to include Navy nuclear propulsion plants
  • 2+ years of experience working with US Government programs
  • 2+ years of experience working with radiation programs
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and technical documents for senior leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to present information to groups through presentations, articles or other publications
  • Highly proficient in desktop computer applications e.g. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain/ maintain a government security clearance
  • Prefer a working knowledge of Department of Defense mission, activities and terms
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with members of a diverse military and civilian team
