Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Significant experience with the following technologies:
JavaScript
Java
SQL database queries
Experience desired, but not required, with the following technologies:
CSS
HTML5
JSON
jQuery
AJAX
ExtJS
Spring
Experience or willingness to work under an Agile development methodology
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Full Stack Java Software Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems' software systems and applications. Key Responsibilities
Work closely with other Software Engineers as part of a diverse, innovative Agile/Scrum development team to produce user-friendly solutions for a web user interface based application
Develop efficient server-side Java applications that facilitate various business processes that achieve the program mission
Participate and contribute to design sessions with other creative engineers to construct high-end solutions to meet customer needs
Additional Qualifications and Responsibilities
Contribute to the build out of Java based automated testing capabilities
Performs software requirements analysis, system integration activities
Perform code reviews of other software engineers work and be willing to accept constructive input from other developers
Performs analysis for all levels of total system product to include concept, design, user experience, test, installation, operation, maintenance
Applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of complex solutions
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical and schedule constraints
Receives no appreciable instruction on day-to-day work
A seasoned, experienced professional having a wide range of professional experience and possessing a strong understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories and expert at applying technical standards and methodologies to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways
Capable of working on complex problems of diverse scope or situations or data that requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors
Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Detailed and strong knowledge of technology trends and champions new ideas and product and process improvements
Strong knowledge of the software development process as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Strong knowledge of software tools supporting Integrated Development Environments (IDE), version control, defect reporting and scripting
Strong ability to multi-task
Strong ability to grasp and apply new information quickly
Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects as a technical lead with little or no direction, frequently provides direction and leadership to technical teams and determines methods and procedures
Strong ability to be a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success, meeting and exceeding personal and team commitments
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Strong ability to recognize and clearly report relevant information
