The North Warning System (NWS) is a joint Canada and United States radar system that includes 47 sites spanning the Arctic from Labrador to the Alaskan border. The NWS provides the capability to detect airborne threats across North America’s polar region, providing a command and control capability to the Canadian Air Defence Sector (CADS) of the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD).

Raytheon provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services for the NWS including full care, custody, and control of the entire system and its components. This includes the radar sites, five logistics support sites (LSSs), a monitoring and control center, and a repair depot. Key activities include maintenance and repair of radar and electronic systems, power generation, and facilities; logistics support; and remote monitoring and control.

Raytheon Canada Limited (RCL) implements an Inuit Training and Development Program (ITDP) that benefits communities within the Comprehensive Land Claim Agreements (CLCA). The purpose of the Program is to actively recruit, develop, and train Inuit Beneficiaries (IBs) for employment on the North Warning System (NWS) Program and foster employee-retention and skills development for Inuit Beneficiary employees at all levels.

Raytheon seeks a Data Entry Specialist Trainee (DEST) in Ottawa, Ontario to perform on-the-job training on a variety of administrative tasks in support of the NWS Contract while participating in post-secondary education courses to advance professional qualifications. Through hands-on and accelerated training, the Trainee program will enable individuals to work and develop the necessary skills to seek job not readily achievable prior to entering the program.

This position is a temporary position with a possibility of extension and is designed to provide an individual with the necessary skills to be employed as a Data Entry Specialist.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Performs a wide variety of clerical tasks in support of the business; including data entry and general office support.
• Maintains alphabetical, numerical or subject files.
• Operates office machinery and personal computer. May be familiar with several computer applications.
• Inputs data into various company systems.
• Generates charts, tables, memoranda, reports, correspondence and other materials with accuracy.
• Schedules staff meetings.
• May be responsible for government and company property tracking and control.
• May interface with internal and/or external customers.
• Demonstrates an ability to meet data input deadlines.

Required Skills:
• Strong MS Office Suite skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Detail-oriented, well organized with sound analytical skills and ability to meet timelines with accuracy.
• Good communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, in a team environment and cross-culturally.
• Must be able to provide Inuit land claims and registration number(s).

Required Education:
• Individuals who have completed high school with a diploma or general equivalency.
