We provide expertise in the areas of broadband communications, signals intelligence, cyber security, and sensor surveillance, with a common core competency in digital signal processing. SIGINT capabilities include the collection and exploitation of communication signals and the interception of electromagnetic signals, such as radar and weapons systems, for electronic intelligence. Cyber security capabilities include network monitoring and surveillance, intrusion detection, and countermeasures. Remote sensing capabilities include processing information from sonar, radar, magnetic, electromagnetic, infrared, electro-optical, hyperspectral, and visible light sensors to detect abnormalities of interest and increase situational awareness. We have experience in space, airborne, terrestrial, and undersea environments and high-end engineering and intelligence analysis services.

Our team has a need in its Sunnyvale, CA, office for a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to design, implement, and validate signal processing algorithms and/or circuitry on a variety of platforms and processors. The candidate will work on software defined radio development efforts and related signal processing applications. Implementations may be in assembly language, high-level languages (e.g. C/C++), firmware, or others as appropriate. In addition, the candidate will develop and execute tests to validate signal processing algorithm implementation performance and correctness.

The candidate will work with other experienced engineering staff to develop and deliver cutting-edge engineering solutions for the protection of our country. The successful candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of Digital Signal Processing concepts: Transform theory, sampling theory, filter design/implementation, common signal processing operations (correlation, convolution, etc)
  • Understanding of Communication System Theory: Digital Modulation (PSK, QAM, OFDM, etc), Forward Error Correction, Carrier Frequency/Phase Tracking, Spread Spectrum Techniques
  • Understanding of engineering development process concepts including requirements, documentation, source control, and testing
  • Ability to implement signal processing and communications algorithms in software defined radio frameworks such as GNURadio, Python, MATLAB, C/C++, etc.
  • Hands-on exposure to product development lab environments
  • Basic understanding of developing in a Linux environment

Desired Skills:
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening) and an ability to work independently and collaboratively in multi-discipline team environments
  • Knowledge of wireless communications standards/protocols (e.g. GSM, CDMA2000, EVDO, W-CDMA, LTE, WiFi, WiMAX)
  • Practical hands-on development, integration, and test experience in the areas of wireless communications and DSP
  • Exposure to Agile development methods, including Scrum, automated testing and continuous integration
  • Exposure to FPGA development, including FPGA development tool chain/flows
  • Exposure to embedded software development using general purpose processors (embedded processor cores, digital signal processors, etc.), including embedded software development tool chains/environments.

Required Education:
  • Must have a MS / MA with a major in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related field with emphasis in Digital Signal Processing by Summer 2019 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date.
