Description

SAIC is seeking a Mission Control System Engineer (MCSE) on the OMES II contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in support of the Mission Control System segment of the Ground System for Restore-L. This is a ground system position with an emphasis on software development. The position is located in Greenbelt, MD.

The Restore-L mission is a Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Satellite Servicing Project Division (SSPD) managed mission. Restore-L is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the Restore-L Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
The role shall support the following activities:
• Develop detailed specifications
• Integrate software from different vendors
• Write code compliant to the requirements and design
• Develop unit tests
• Package software products for simple installation
• Write installation instructions and train users
• Develop and maintain a continuous and on-demand automated software build and release process on Linux and Windows.
• Work with team members to troubleshoot defects and actions and drive them to completion in a timely fashion
• Documentation development
o Support development of Interface Control Documents (ICD)
o Support development of design review packages
• Integration and Test
o Support integration of the Mission Control System subsystems
o Participate in verification and validation activities (planning, execution, test reports)
o Develop simulation capabilities for training, rehearsals and integration testing

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of related experience
• Linux familiarity including networking, software package management and general scripting in languages such as Bash
• Mainstream language experience (C++, Java, Python)
• Installation of software products
• Document code and write design documentation



DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
• VM creation and maintenance
• Knowledge of system engineering and integration tools, including configuration and change management tools
• Unit testing and mocking frameworks
• Continuous integration
• Satellite ground system life-cycle development
• Familiarity with NASA policies and procedures
