Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced IT Network Specialist. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Key Responsibilities:
As a member of the Enterprise Network team with the Mission Systems Information Technology (IT) organization, the successful candidate will be a key contributor ensuring the network environment is performing to meet complex, critical business needs for ~13,000 users. The Network engineer will independently manage workload from a ticketing system and will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of firewalls for the border and Wide Area Networks. This role works closely with the WAN and Boarder management Enterprise Network team along with Application, Server and Cloud Services teams to ensure the environment is performing optimally for the user community.
Required Skills:
Provide technical support to maintain the network infrastructure within the production environment by configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting
Implement, manage, and troubleshoot the boarder outer edge, DMZ and WAN solutions including advanced routing technologies using BGP, OSPF, EIRGRP in conjunction with various telecommunication providers and architectures in a MPLs environment and IP Circuits
Knowledge for configuring, managing, and troubleshooting with Cisco ASA firewalls, Sidewinders, Palo Altos, Cisco routers models, remote access, VPN and IVE technology, and cyber security solutions such as SourceFire, IPS, and Fireeye
Performs analysis, logging, and solution of Splunk alerts for the network environment
Works with customers to understand issues and resolve problems within the border environment for the network, if necessary work with more Senior team members
Executes tests based on test plans for assigned tasks
Coordinates testing between impacted teams within IT and/or customer
Ability to maintain documentation using Visio, Excel, Word, and SharePoint
Participate in an on-call rotation.
Ensures all systems are compliant to the security policies and hardening guidelines
Experience working in a structured environment that requires change control, Problem Management and Root Cause Analysis processes in accordance with company policies, for execution of implementations and changes to the network environment
Experience with layer 2 through 7 technologies
Proficiency with Palo Alto firewalls using Panorama in a large scale environment, Cisco ASA firewalls – Layer 1-7 firewalls in a virtual firewall environment and an understanding of the switching and routing techniques.
Experience with designing high-available networks, including both system and component level redundancy and the associated technologies to accomplish HA
Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies (Internal/External Cloud, SDNetworks)
The applicant must be able to work with other teams such as system architects, system administrators and hardware support groups.
Demonstrated knowledge in cyber security solutions such as IPS, SourceFire, FireEye, WebWashers
Demonstrated expertise with IP designs, NAT, IP routing protocols (BGP)
Demonstrated expertise with server load-balancing systems and WAN Optimizers
Expertise configuring, managing and troubleshooting variations of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and QOS
Proficient knowledge in understanding of the interrelationships within the networking environment such as Windows, Unix, Storage, and VMWare and how they function within a network environment
Expert with network troubleshooting tools and knowledge of translating the activity on the infrastructure. (SPLUNK, Wireshark)
Experience in Remedy IT ticketing system
Experience with Solarwinds for monitoring and backups
Ability to work individually or collaboratively as part of a high-performance work team
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Skilled at clear and concise written and verbal communication
Is a subject matter expert within their area of primary responsibility, able to grasp and resolve the most difficult and complex problems, takes initiative and functions as a team leader and mentor. Demonstrates critical thinking regarding technology and business and can develop components of the IT strategy.
Knowledge and experience in the ITIL service framework is a plus
Ability to maintain documentation using Visio, Excel, Word, and SharePoint
