Promptly at the start of the shift review the work schedule, check equipment and supplies and prepare for operations.
Open absorber inlet, close block valve and open outlet valve, set back pressure controller, open waste gas valve and maxon valve, set reformer auto controller, set stop absorbers and flip to auto position, flip product gas to storage and open H2 valve to hydro.
Check Log Sheet (lubricator, steam drum level, etc.) and adjust production rate as dictated by the hydrogen usage. Troubleshoot various conditions; flame out, absorber synchronization, low product purity, uneven temperatures, instrument malfunctions, leaks, low steam or natural gas flow and adjust, repair or otherwise resolve the problem.
Start pull vacuums for north and south deodorizers, set-up control panel, open valve to bring in oil, start dow-therm vaporizer, open steam line to sparger, and start running the oil.
Change bags and sock filters, pump Na Oh from refinery to deodorizer storage tank, mix additives and replenish citric acid supply.
Monitor north and south deodorizer operations at control panel and troubleshoot operational problems.
Shutdown the gas plant control room and north and south deodorizers as required.
At end of shift perform general housekeeping duties and complete all required paperwork.
