The candidate will perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments related to hardware assembly processes and testing. Assignments will include technical evaluation and support of manufacturing issues/concerns. Candidate will participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of M&P, prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports. The candidate will coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
This position requires access Export Controlled Information and the ability to obtain a security clearance. US Citizenship is required.
The following qualifications are required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Physics, Material Sciences, Metallurgical Engineering or a related discipline.
Expertise in one or more of the following: metallurgical engineering, welding, brazing, castings, forgings, heat treating, and supplier certification/qualification.
Experience communicating with internal and external customers on a regular basis.
Experience reviewing engineering drawings and providing guidance to design, stress, and manufacturing engineers.
Non-conformance and failure analysis disposition experience.
These skills will set candidates apart:
Understanding of metallurgical properties of industry standard mill products (sheet, plate, bar, etc.).
Familiarity with American Welding Society codes.
Expertise with a variety of materials and process engineering disciplines such as metals, composites, adhesives, bonding, cleaning, failure analysis, and manufacturing operations.
Experience acting or the ability to act as the organizational spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs.
Previous coordination or oversight with hardware suppliers and subcontractors.
Ability to multi-task, handle shifting priorities and timeline pressure to meet project deadlines.
