Manages the planning and direction of departmental projects for assigned area. Oversees the efficient operation and cost-effectiveness of financial systems and programs. Provides guidance and leadership to staff. Partners with business to provide recommendations and ensure sound financial decisions are made for the organization. Effectively leads small teams and works with or leads small ad-hoc project teams. Areas of responsibility may include all facets of Procurement Finance (financial planning & analysis, cost savings, productivity, contract reviews, internal controls, annual operating plan, forecasting, inflation/deflation, integrated margin management, etc.). 7 years related experience preferred.
Job Summary
This position will partner with Enterprise Procurement to ensure cost savings, working capital and risk management objectives are achieved. The manager will analyze market trends, material purchasing patterns, identify/investigate variances and help develop actionable plans to drive results in the business. Provides guidance and leadership to staff. Partners with business to provide recommendations and ensure sound financial decisions are made for the organization.
Position Responsibilities
Establish working knowledge about the business's material requirements and working relationship with the Procurement and Brand organization to facilitate achieving positive business results.
Work with procurement buyers to build a material forecast and provide relevant analysis to Procurement Finance Leadership and Enterprise Procurement Leadership.
Analyze material price variances to Plan, Forecast and Prior Year through reporting, ad hoc analysis, and business reviews. Summarize variances and discuss action plans with Procurement Finance Leadership and Enterprise Procurement Leadership.
Support pricing actions by working with the brands and the Pricing Team through the Integrated Margin Management (IMM) process.
Manage cost savings process/reporting with monthly reviews to identify plan gaps and action plans with Procurement Finance Leaders and Enterprise Procurement leadership.
Lead preparation/evaluation of monthly and quarterly materials reviews including analysis of coverage/open positions, cost savings opportunities and projected material variances.
Significant role in analysis/preparation of Annual Operating Plan.
Assist in developing management reports through functional knowledge of forecasting systems.
Provide formal and informal training on financial concepts and systems to team members.
Support and evaluate accounting guidance, internal controls, financial plans and policies for Procurement.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
7 years of related experience, preferably in consumer packaged goods industry.
MBA, CPA, CMA preferred, but not required
Proven ability to self-motivate in a fast paced environment, ability to deal with ambiguity, change and a dynamic business environment
Actively communicate changes to business partners by providing specific, actionable and forward-looking commentary on the various changes as well as guidance on potential risk
Ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal customers, peers and effectively managing those relationships
Experience accurately forecasting in a given area and understanding the key drivers of that area
Ability to leverage analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and solutions
Create a winning team through effective leadership, talent management and team member development
Experience leading projects from conception to completion
Knowledge of financial derivatives and hedging strategies preferred
Strong fundamental knowledge and understanding of GAAP
Experience identifying, improving and maintaining internal controls
Ability to manage and make recommendations for efficiencies with systems and tools
Experience effectively working across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
