Job Summary
Inspector General (IG) Technical Advisor shall advise and coach the Corps IG and staff in becoming subject matter experts in MoD, ANSF, and command policies, procedures, and standards to facilitate the teach and train function that is imbedded in the other three IG functions.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Advise and coach the Corps IG and staff in analyzing inspections, assistance cases and trends; in writing clear, logical, and succinct IG reports; and in providing the results to the commander for action.
  • Advise and coach the Corps IG in identifying and recommending individuals to the commander as prospective IGs.
  • Provide weekly, written progress reports to the GS IG Advisor and provide a courtesy copy to the contracted Senior Mentor.
  • Assist Corps Inspector General staffs to maintain a manual or automated system to take action on written complaints and requests for assistance or information, to include maintaining a record of all open complaints/requests and files on closed actions.
  • Assist Corps Inspector General Staff to provide guidance to subordinate Corps commands on how to include the right to complain and request information in their command information programs.
  • Provide training to Corps leaders on the rights of soldiers to complain or request for assistance or information without fear of retribution or retaliation. This training will include the administrative and judicial jeopardy facing leaders who retaliate or take retribution on those who avail themselves to the right to complain or request information.
  • Advise and coach the Corps IG and staff in implementing or sustaining a manual or automated IG case log and tracking system, and an IG records management and filing system.
  • Assist Corps IG staff to develop an annual inspection plan and conduct inspections IAW the annual inspection plan.
  • Develop and implement train-the-trainer programs to develop sustainment capability.
  • Provide training to Corps officers on how to prepare a staff assistance visit and conduct staff assistance visits to units of the Corps that assists processes and procedures that complies with military law, policy and regulation.
  • Assist Corps IG staffs to coordinate with S1 and S3 to annotate personnel records of required training.
  • Advise and coach the Corps IG and staff in conducting investigations and investigative inquiries to resolve allegations in accordance with Afghan IG policy and doctrine.
  • Develop and implement a train-the-trainer program to develop sustainment capability.
  • Assist Corps IG staffs to coordinate with G1/S1 and G3/S3 to annotate personnel records of required training. (p) Report initiatives and accomplishments concerning the above programs and initiatives on a monthly basis to the GS IG Advisor and provide a copy to the contracted Senior Mentor.
  • The IG mentor will coordinate with the GS IG Advisor on “as needed/ as available” bases to discuss IG activities across the Corps and GS IG to ensure unity of effort and synchronize command priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Automated data processing knowledge: possess working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, graphics presentation, databases, E-mail clients & web browsers, and web content management.

Experience & Education

  • Two to five years of Inspector General or Investigative experience.
  • Must have a final (not interim) DoD SECRET Level Security Clearance before deployment and maintain that clearance.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must pass all medical and fitness requirements directed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) in order to deploy.
  • Must be able to operate in harsh and austere conditions of Afghanistan


  • Must be capable of daily travel in and around Kabul as well as to locations throughout Afghanistan.
