Laboratory Technician (Fuel) - Cotangent Hire
Under general to occasional supervision, performs routine duties to conduct laboratory tests either following procedures or requiring the selection of test equipment/instrumentation procedures. In some instances may perform non-routine prototype and/or laboratory testing. Operates laboratory equipment such as pumps, distillation machines, flash point and various meters as required to execute assigned tasks. Repairs, calibrates, and provides general maintenance on laboratory equipment. May perform complex tests using proficient techniques with electrical/electronic, chemical, and mechanical equipment that includes set-up, calibration, trouble-shooting, monitoring, and data collection. Maybe responsible for training lower level technicians. Collects data, documents test results, and assists in preparing reports or other documentation. Maintains files and documentation related to test equipment. Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties. Skills are typically gained through 3-8 years of experience. Eight (8) hours of college chemistry or petroleum laboratory technical diploma is required to work as a chemical technician. At least 1 years of petroleum industry experience required for this Laboratory Technician Position.
Required to provide completion certification for Fuels Laboratory from Military/Civilian accredited training or Chemistry Degree with Petroleum testing experience.
Should be knowledgeable in petroleum testing procedures and standards IAW the ASTM and Mil-STD 3004B.
Must have normal color vision and not allergic to petroleum products. This is a critical fill position that requires specific skills not learned through the OJT process.
Must have Class III Fuel Operations experience

Must be fluent in English
Must possess passport book with at least 15 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining
Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
Must have prior experience testing fuel samples and Laboratory work
One (1) year of prior experience in petroleum storage and distribution operations and fuel systems maintenance
