The Melbourne transport team has a variety of immediate secured work and future opportunities in the pipeline including North Western Program Alliance work Level Crossing Removal packages, Western Roads Upgrade, Inland Rail, future M80 Ring Road Upgrades, Melbourne Airport Rail Link, and other large road and rail and projects.

The Opportunity

With several projects currently being delivered and to position ourselves for future opportunities, KBR are seeking a Senior Designer to join our well established and growing team.

Ideally this role will suit a developed civil design professional with knowledge and experience of Australian design and drafting standards and experience across a broad range of infrastructure projects.

This role will also give you the opportunity to focus using InRoads and be a key part of our transition to Bentley OpenRoads.


  • Carry out Civil Design of Highways, Arterial Roads and Grade Separation projects using Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads and Microstation software to the appropriate standard and within agreed timelines.
  • Modelling outputs to be in line with current market federated model & BIM requirements.
  • Use VicRoads/Austroads/MTM/PTV and client standards and established industry practices.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of client needs and achieving a good level of client satisfaction
  • Mentoring and leading less experienced civil designers in the team


  • Associate Diploma in Structural/Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Competency using Microstation
  • Proven work experience on Transport projects using InRoads/MX/12D/Openroads (looking to focus into InRoads/OpenRoads)
  • Developed design & drafting experience including knowledge and experience of local & Australian standards.
  • Experience working in a Design and Construct environment desirable
  • Ideally looking for 10 years’ industry related experience in an engineering consultancy environment
