Job Description Summary
The GIS Solutions Engineer is responsible for all technical GIS tasks within the defined project boundaries. An ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability in all aspects of GIS technical work including tasks such as creating and publishing 2D and 3D maps/scenes and layers, creation and maintenance of custom and pre-defined demographic layers and a good comprehension of demographic statistics and analysis. The candidate should also have a thorough understanding of key GIS vendor applications, especially the ESRI suite of products including the administration of those products. The ability to be able to extend the projects GID functionality through automated scripting or coding is a heavy plus. The candidate may be expected to assist in the administration, management and architecture of the ESRI product suite as it relates to the assigned project. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a team dynamic, while maintaining their own schedule and task management and have an overall passion for everything GIS.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Creates and maintains production mapping, demographic reports, and GIS related requests for the defined project.
Create, maintain and publish custom 2D and 3D maps, scenes and layers
Create custom demographic statistic layers
Evaluate, deploy and maintain 3rd party statistical layers
Develop customized geoprocessing tools and Python Scripts for automating repetitive tasks and data acquisition
Administer and architect key GIS vendor applications, primarily ESRI suite
Assist with clerical tasks such as group creation and user access with ArcGIS Online
Required Experience:
5+ years’ experience in GIS
Proven experience with GIS map, scene, layer and demographic layers
Proven experience analyzing key demographics for a specific region
Proven experience using, administering and troubleshooting key ESRI ArcGIS applications
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May be required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.
