National Grid is hiring a Senior ADMS Engineer in Northborough, MA.
Job Purpose
As an ADMS SME (Subject Matter Expert) you will play a key role in defining, testing and implementing National Grid’s first production advanced distribution management system (ADMS), distribution SCADA system and required data interfaces. The selected candidate for this role will become a key resource required to work in parallel with the wider grid modernization organization to ensure consistency between developing technologies and ADMS requirements. SME’s will be expected to stay up to speed on present control room operation processes and procedures and will become the voice of ADMS for the control room and CNI groups. Responsibilities may also include data model readiness, database population and network topology review. At the completion of the ADMS project implementation this role will become a key position in the control room utilizing advanced applications to streamline and improve daily operations.
Key Accountabilities
Knowledge of electrical distribution circuit maps and hierarchy of electrical distribution circuits
Knowledgeable in data modeling and database management
Develop and maintain systems, designs, specifications, standards, models and procedures in order to support design, solutions and enhance safety, efficiency and operability and support local decision making.
Support socialization of efforts and change management work
Develop and progress the implementation of methods for the day-to-day business to take advantage of the operational benefits of new energy resources and demand response systems.
Domain / Industry Knowledge surrounding control room software platforms is a plus
Support control center operations adoption and use of DMS applications
Develop and carry out presentations and training for operations personnel
Knowledgeable of system integration issues
Attends industry related conferences / events
Knowledge of distribution system planning including power flow and load analysis, voltage quality, and fault analysis is a plus
An Associate degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or other technical discipline is required as well 5+ years of related experience.
Requires technical ability to understand and move to define new operations processes or procedures.
Past experience with change management or introduction of new technology concepts to an operations environment is a plus.
Practices and demonstrates the ability to create new concepts or solutions that are not always obvious to others.
