GDIT is seeking a Systems Engineer to support existing and new programs. The successful candidate will support the customer with analysis, design, education and training with respect to their C4I systems architecture.  An understanding of functional operations and customer mission is preferred.

Task associated with this position include:

1. Performs complex systems development and analysis work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design and analog or digital systems engineering.
2. Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis.
3. Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.
4. Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.

5. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.


6. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system problems and assists the customer's user base to do same.

7. Provides specialized training and technical guidance to users and leadership for systems, software applications and equipment.
8. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

9. May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.


10. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.


11. Participates in special projects as assigned.

Additional skills:
  • Plan, coordinate and manage engineering projects.
  • Act as lead in defining and executing systems engineering activities within a project.
  • Liases with service providers, project management offices and other agencies.  
  • Provide comprehensive definition of all aspects of system development from analysis of mission needs to verification of system performance.
  • A senior system engineer could support operations as needed.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes.
  • Mitigate risks, controls costs and schedule variance and effectively manages large scale, integrated projects.
  • Review and/or approve system engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive and complete.
  • Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces.
  • Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format and store interface data in a commonly accessible repository.
  • Establish a process to formally and proactively control and manage changes to requirements, consider impacts prior to commitment to change, gain stakeholder buy-in, eliminate ambiguity, ensure traceability to source requirements and track and settle open actions.


  • 5-8 years of related systems engineering experience.
  • Requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
  • Must be willing to obtain & maintain a CI polygraph.
  • Extensive knowledge of the GCCS family of systems is required.
  •  Knowledge of one or more other C4I systems is preferred:  MIDB, GALE, DCGS-A, DCGS-N, Radiant Mercury, JCDX, JTT.
  • Travel:  5%
