Job Summary:
Worker cleans food processing equipment, overhead pipes and conveyors, using brushes, air hoses, steam cleaner and chemicals. Also cleans screens, filters and floors using water hose, squeegee and chemicals. Picks up scrap cardboard and operates compactor. May also operate industrial truck to transport materials within plant. Responsibilities also involve supporting janitorial service in maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping of the facility.
Essential Functions:
Clean freezers (and refrigerators) by rinsing, soaping and sanitizing, following standard operating procedures.
Cover and protect electrical panels; disassemble, clean and sanitize, reassemble and run equipment.
Mix chemicals for hand wash and sanitation, correctly calculating the proper percentage of chemicals, water and other mixtures.
Perform general cleaning and maintenance of structural componets such as walls, fllors, HVAC units and ductwork, lights, pipes, windows and ceilings.
Must be free of identified pathogens spread by infected persons handling food such as Hepatitis A, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, etc.
Must understand and follow food safety (SQF)/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards at all times.
Ensure compliance with all safery programs and maintatin hazard free work areas.
Use sound judgment and exercise caution to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
Must maintain timely and regular attendance per company policy.
Weekend work is required
Must be able to work overtime to meet production and sanitation deadlines.
Responsible to report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Other sanitation specific duties as needed.

Ability to operate production equipment in order to properly test and clean.
Must be able to demonstrate thorough knowledge of all chemical mixtures and proper application.
Must be able to evaluate proper cleaning effectiveness.
Must be able to navigate numerous flights of stairs/ladders on a continual basis.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs and to work at high elevations, in confinded areas, in extreme head and cold and in outside conditions on a regular basis.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Must participate in Continuing Education classes offered through the company.
Must be able to communicate any food safety concerns to supervisor/management.
Desirable Experience:.
Previous Sanitation experience desired.
Forklift experience is a plus
