The Sr Field Engineer will be part of a C2BMC O&M team performing 10X7 site operations and maintenance on a forward deployed system in Japan. The selected candidate will be part of a team that reports to the KCS site lead and performs daily system monitoring, operations and maintenance of the C2BMC systems in a 24x7 operations and test environment.
Provide first level technical support to the warfighter and perform initial troubleshooting of all local Campus Communications and C2BMC hardware, software and networks
Document and report all events/issues to the CWO and receive tasking and direction from the site lead for all operations, test & real world events.
Assist in all hardware/software installations as directed by the local SMEs and create and maintain user accounts.
Support site communication infrastructure and systems to include SIPRNet & NIPRNet.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required
Technical Skill Required:
Knowledge of and practical experience in the usage of an array of network and information security tools
Knowledge of modern computer systems, client/server, LAN/WAN and Network concepts, modern network management and monitoring concepts
Ability to recognize known worms/viruses based on their signatures
Ability to recognize network intrusion events and to differentiate false positives
Ability to recognize successful intrusions and compromises through review and analysis of relevant event logs and other detailed information
Knowledge of hardware (Routers, CSU/DSU, bridges, multiplexers, servers and switches configuration)
Previous experience in the monitoring/management of intrusion detection systems and firewall devices, to include SideWinder, ArcSight, HBSS and/or Tripwire
Experience securing network gear against known vulnerabilities
Education Required: 6 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
