RMS is looking for someone to fill a Technical Support Engineer I role for Systems Engineering requirements development and management (RD/RM). This person will be responsible for managing the IBM Rational DOORS database for various RMS programs' RD/RM use. Requires knowledge of standard SE IPDS processes as it relates to RD/RM. Applicant must be able to apply SE IPDS processes to guide programs on how to effectively and efficiently use DOORS. Role requires regular computer use to include IBM Rational DOORS, Microsoft Office products, Windchill, Sherpa PDM, Risk Register, Peer Review tool, Rational Team Concert, and Rhapsody.

NOTE: This position can be a Salary Grade G06 (Technical Support Engineer I) or Salary Grade G07 (Technical Support Engineer II) based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Management, Mathematics or related fields.


  • Must currently have or be able to obtain U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Routine DOORS Administrator tasks include importing documents from various source files, creation and population of attributes, creation of link modules/link sets, creation of links for various purposes (ie: traceability, verification, analyses), and managing access to database.

  • Requirements management in alignment with SE IPDS within the DOORS database. Includes locking documents down for CCB control, proposing changes, reviewing effectivity of proposed changes, exporting change notices, holding various reviews, approving and incorporating approved changes in database, exporting new releases for vaulting in program's data management tool (typically either Windchill or Sherpa PDM).

  • Provide frequent input, guidance, and training to the program’s DOORS users to enable the most efficient usage of the DOORS tool.

  • Engage with program's DM (Data Management) and CM (Configuration Management) personnel to ensure processes are in alignment with program's tailored requirements.

  • Generate reports out of DOORS for program status.

  • Must have ability to troubleshoot errors/issues associated with the DOORS database. This could include evaluating unique program situations to come up with a tailored DOORS approach.

  • Must possess a high attention to detail.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools required, Rational DOORS and Windchill preferred.
