About the role

The core objective for this role is to drive the strategic direction for the control and management of master data across the Finance & Business Services with a specific focus on the Core SAP systems.


The Master Data Manager will manage the team responsible for master data creation, management and maintenance. On a daily basis, the incumbent will interact with subordinates, peers, leadership, and internal customers who require support from the Master Data Management team


They will develop the strategy for the way in which master data is managed at National Grid and define the roadmap to a centralised MDM function. As new tools are embedded they will be responsible for driving improvements in productivity, quality and Control.

About you

  • You will have experience in directly supervising a team and being accountable for their individual development and performance or equivalent documented experience
  • Progressive enterprise information management experience with a focus on master data management
  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Quality Management and Data Architecture Standardization with implementation of a new Master Management program
  • Strong customer focus, internal and external
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Solid presentation / influence skills
  • Possess a high sense of urgency
  • Collaborates effectively across functions
  • Effective at handling complex, escalated support issues
  • Must be able to multi-task, work effectively with team members to develop goals and development plans, achieve goals, and coordinate efforts within and across departments

  • General knowledge of data governance principles
  • Demonstrated creation of business requirement documents
