Raytheon Missile Systems is the world’s largest missile producer. RMS is responsible for the design, test, manufacture, and support of weapon systems equipping the US warfighter and our international allies to meet a large variety of demanding mission requirements. Every missile system produced by Raytheon contains advanced electrical subsystems. These enable target detection, target tracking, guidance, navigation, signal processing, and communication in extreme battle-field environments. The Electrical Subsystems Directorate (ESD) is responsible for all aspects of these subsystems’ design, test, and production.

Job Description:

The Electronics Product Development and Prototyping Department, a part of ESD, is currently searching for a Technical Support Engineer with experience in performing test and troubleshooting to the component level utilizing schematics and test equipment.

Responsibilities include performing electrical tests and troubleshooting on subassemblies, assemblies, and systems for conformance to specifications. Understanding and applying the theory of operation for the unit under test to enable determination of faulty product for design, workmanship, environmental and/or component defects.
Responsibilities may contain aspects of one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Signal processing - analysis and manipulation of signals. Signals can be either analog or digital.
  • Communications - transmission of information across a channel such as a co-axial cable, optical fiber or free space.
  • Electromagnetics - includes Electromagnetic waves, Transmission Lines and Waveguides, Antennas, Radio-Frequency (RF) and Microwaves.
  • Controls - flight and propulsion systems.
  • Power - generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity as well as the design of related devices. These include transformers, electric generators, electric motors, high voltage engineering, and power electronics.

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to read, understand and accurately follow prints, schematics, sketches, as well as work from verbal and/or written instructions including test procedures.
  • Experience performing test, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and installs on a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical, radio frequency (RF), laboratory and scientific systems and/or assemblies.
    Experience operating in an environmental test chambers as required.
  • When required, must develop test data to resolve performance problems in connection with the product under test.
  • Experience performing installation tasks such as Soldering, Cable Dressing, and coaxial Connectors.
  • Experience interfacing with a variety of engineering and management staff.
  • Experience using time-management to plan tasks to ensure timely completion and/or obtaining needed support.
  • Experience communicating advanced technical knowledge and document descriptions of technical solutions.
  • Experience working in multiple discipline integrated product development team
  • Experience supporting several programs concurrently.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Positon will require local travel between sites.

  • disciplines.
  • Have strong working knowledge in use of basic and complex test equipment to include, high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, specialized VSWR test equipment, Time Domain Reflectometers (TDRs), voltmeters, meggers, etc
  • Have experience in the realm of assembly verification test and integrated assembly.
  • Have the ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Must be able to work on complex technical problems and facilitate innovative solutions.

Required Education:

Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program and six (6) years directly related experience.
OR - Bachelor’s degree and directly related experience
