SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, CONSTRUCTION
With broad direction, responsibility over a group of technical staff on major and minor projects at a chemical facility.
This position is
located as a client site in Mt. Vernon, IN. No Per Diem will be offered.
Key responsibilities of the job include:
Managing safety among all workers.
Day to day coordination of various contractors
Interface between contractor, engineering and operations
Completing safe work permits. Leading tool box talks. Performing JSA’s.
Implementing the sites safe work practices
Monitoring and ensuring construction quality
Monitoring conformance to construction drawings
Monitoring and reporting contractor performance
Administering construction contracts
Monitoring contractor hours and T&M work as needed
Communication with project team members.
Attend bid meetings, and provide input into bid scopes
Participate during detailed design to plan construction and provide input
Providing support FEL through MC
years’ construction experience, with a good understanding of all trades associated with commercial and industrial construction
Chemical industry experience required.
Strong, broad background in construction encompassing buildings, chemical process equipment and piping, electrical / instrumentation and civil site prep is ideal.
Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices related to construction and ability to manage work permit process.
Ability to communicate written and verbally to client, team and management
Ability to lead meetings and take meeting minutes
Ability to work with minimal supervision in daily tasks
Knowledge of technical vocabularies and terminology common to construction industry.
Must be able to read or understand:
Isometric piping drawings
Wiring diagrams and single line diagrams a plus
Steel erection drawings
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets and applications
Excellent verbal and written communication, listening and interpersonal skills
Must be able to maintain positive relationship through daily communication with the client
Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities:
extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
Some lifting may be required.
Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
