Description:This position is for a thermal analyst in the Central Engineering organization, requiring a strong foundation and experience in heat transfer analysis. The candidate will be responsible for performing thermal analyses of missile systems/components during ground operations and all phases of flight. Tasks involve the evaluation of thermal management requirements through the development and execution of analytical models and tests. Tasks also include the execution of software tools to predict ambient and high-speed aerodynamic heating environments and component thermal response, support for component and system ground tests to verify analytical models, and analysis of flight data to verify system performance. Other responsibilities include writing technical memos, providing inputs to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, provide review, interpretation, flow down, and implementation of program requirements, and presenting thermal design and analysis data to design/engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
Thermal analysis experience in the aerospace industry. Strong understanding of heat transfer principles. Proven interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and dedication to Mission Success. Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Desired Skills:
Familiarity/experience with thermal analysis tools such as NX Thermal. Knowledge of finite element modeling and thermal protection materials. Experience with thermal tests and instrumentation. Creativity/innovation to solve issues related to anomalous performance of any aspect of a thermal system.
