Job Title: DTT Lead Integration Systems Engineer (Permanent) Location: Warminster
Summary of Role: A Lead Infrastructure Systems Engineer being part of the Systems Engineering team responsible for the design and deployment of the DTT application. This is a customer facing role at the customer site in Warminster. The DTT application is a complex distributed web based target management application.
Main Duties: The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the integration of the DTT application onto the UK and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) fixed and deployed infrastructures. These include the Defence Information Infrastructure (DII), Operational Enterprise Service Bus Hosting Environment (OEHE) and MAGPIE. The Systems Engineer will also take on any the integration of the DTT application onto future MoD infrastructures. The Systems Engineer will :
Define the application hosting design constraints to the software architect and assisit with solutions to overcome them. Constraints include low bandwidth communications, security clamps and limited storage/memory.
Attend and where required, conduct client/stakeholder user, technical, and security working groups.
Author and Update Systems Engineering documents as tasked. This will include a) The technical Installation Manual, b) Documentation of how the application will interface/integrate with NATO and UK applications/systems. These include Integrated Command and Control (ICC), Joint Targeting Toolset (JTS), BOWMAN (i.e. ComBAT) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). c) Technical studies including how to deploy an application onto other third-party infrastructures.
Act as project security representative, maintaining the product Risk Management Accreditation Documentation Set (RMADS) and Project Security Plan.
Assist customer in preparing for the support of national and international exercises e.g. Warfighter (USA). When tasked provide on site support to the customer exercises.
Assist in the design, build, update and ongoing support of the customer testing (SAT), demonstration and training environments.
Provide support to the portable customer training system at the user’s school - a virtualised server solution.
Assist/support the third-party infrastructure providers in how to integrate the DTT application, including helping with, reviewing their design and resolving any issues during their integration of the DTT application.
Assist in working on future technological requirements for DTT, such as new ways of using and deploying and using DTT.
Provide Support to Level 4 reachback capability to deployed capabilities, through the customers help desk.
The System Engineer will also have various opportunities to assist in other aspects of the DTT project and other related ventures.
Experience in the design, development, testing, integration, operation, and support of software/applications and communication systems. Will be required to work under own initiative and lead a team.
Due to the nature of the project this role requires the engineer to be proficient at working to tight schedules under pressure.
Due to this role being on a customer site and acting as integration lead for the DTT project, excellent customer facing and inter personnel communications skills.
Technological experience: VMWare/Hyper-V/VirtualBox virtualization technologies, Windows Server , Windows XP/7/10, SQL Server, Cisco switches, Exchange, Wide Area Network (WAN) simulation, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Domain Name Services (DNS), Dynamic Control Host Protocol (DHCP), Imaging and Backup Solutions.
