Job Purpose

In this role you will work with the National Grid Electricity Transmission (ET) strategy lead and senior executive team; the purpose of the ET strategy team is to shape the direction and future change agenda for ET. Ensuring that the strategy sets the business up for the future, is deliverable across the entire organisation and can be rolled out to teams so it provides day to day direction and purpose.

 

Your role will include senior stakeholder engagement (internal and external), market sizing, environmental scanning, operational and financial analysis with the aim of responding to some of ETs biggest opportunities and business challenges. This is a key role in one of UK’s most strategically important businesses and a significant contributor to Nationals Grid performance

Level 7 - A competitive salary between £40,100 - £50,700– dependent on experience.

Key Accountabilities

  • The core accountability for the ET Strategy Officer is to provide the analytical expertise to provide excellent core strategies across our main areas within the ET division.

 

Further accountabilities include:

  • Provide the necessary data to contribute and assist in driving the direction and focus of the ET strategy, with a focus on resilience and capitalizing on existing strengths whilst seeking new out new, value led opportunities.
  • Support the concept through to deliver on the futures program, using analytical and industry experience to ensure that ET as part of National Grid is at the forefront of developing new opportunity and excellence within the market place.
  • Provide solutions and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; to determine and carry out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognising and capitalising on improvement opportunities and adapting to competing demands, organisational changes and new responsibilities
  • Ensure a continual and seamless integration between the ET strategy into the wider corporate strategy by constantly re-evaluating the delivery and monitoring progress
  • Develop the necessary tools and track to ensure that the strategy translates into workable and tangible objectives and that it is translated across all the departments within the division.
  • Ensure that communication and engagement with our Customers is done in an ambitious, proactive and transparent manner, which looks to diversify and increase our current customer base, and increase our customer satisfaction score in line with Company objectives.
  • Help to develop and deliver training which ensures the ET strategy is at the forefront of everything that we do.
  • Serve as a liaison between the heads of department within ET and the Strategy department to capture business requirements to shape appropriate, strategic solutions.

Technical / Specialist Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in building strategic relationships and working collaboratively across businesses
  • Experience of business / financial / workforce / investment planning
  • Excellent organisational skills, previous experience of developing, managing and delivering plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in recruitment / resourcing is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in successfully communicating business change in a relevant and empathetic manner
  • Comprehensive knowledge of both the UK and Electricity Transmission business

Degree or equivalent experience related to Business Strategy
