You will be accountable for optimisation, prioritisation, resourcing and scheduling of the Operational plan in current year, ensuring National Grid Operational Zonal targets are fully met. Ensuring current year planning conflicts are prioritised and resolved within appropriate timescales.
You will monitor progress against outcome targets within zone, proactively resolving escalations.
Location and Grade
This role will be based in local operational zone.
A competitive salary between £31,900 - £35,700 – dependent on capability

Responsible for a rolling and dynamic plan for all operational, customer focused and capital construction works within a specified work zone; focusing on the Operational 0-1 year timescales. Prioritise all works to be delivered by National Grid ET Operations. Supported by our Central Portfolio Planning Process.
Confirm and share with wider NG business, the 90 day plan for which deliverability has been agreed.
Manage Work Deferral, and Work Not Done processes.
Work collaboratively with all National Grid delivery units to co-ordinate and manage conflict in the plan through cross functional working and planning meetings to determine whether the work & outage mix can be adjusted to meet the outcome target as and when required and identify opportunities to work flexibly within the zone, escalating any issues to the cross functional planning and delivery teams.
Identify the need for work to be re-planned and manage change requests to the plan efficiently determining the limiting factor and ensure all re-planning are carried out in a timely manner.
Ensure all planning decisions are documented in the relevant systems and are communicated with reasoning to all relevant stakeholders
Engage Capital Delivery Construction Project Engineers and Development Engineers around construction scheme development and construction scheme management processes
Work with NG internal process owners to drive improvements in the core planning process.
Provide clear direction and guidance to the activities of the Assistant Operational Planner and Scheduler.
Ensure assets are compliant with company statutory requirements, company policy obligations. Ensure a robust audit trail is maintained, in respect of Substation Site Routines and maintenance.
Other duties as assigned to ensure operational safety, compliance and delivery within Substations or Overhead Lines
Technical / Specialist Skills and Experience
Knowledge of the NG Planning Processes and Systems would be an advantage. e.g. Ellipse, TOGA, Click Schedule, WORTS, Delivery Workflow Tool (DWT) and Single View of the Plan (SVOP) etc... across all work types. Training for all above will be provided.
A good understanding of Asset Maintenance policy and application, and resource requirements, being able to formulate robust work plans and to appropriate debate/challenge conflicting views.
Knowledge of NG Safety Rules, National Safety Instructions and Working Procedures would be an advantage.
Demonstrated ability in managing and prioritising work resource and planning conflicts in real time.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex issues and their resolution and multitask and prioritise.
Management of resource plans and other constraints in an operational environment
Ability to work flexibly, and to adapt positively to change.
Minimum ONC (GNVQ level 3) preferably in an engineering discipline or the relevant experience in a previous role
Membership of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM)
