Performs analysis on in-process and finished products and R&D samples to ensure specifications are met. Makes accept/reject decision on incoming raw materials and pre-shipment samples based on pre-established criteria. Places defective product on Hold in accordance with Hold procedures. Resolves and reports defect issues. Interacts with other departments to communicate testing results.
Perform all quality assurance checks including but not limited to: inspecting the lines during pre-operational time periods; taking in-process or finished product samples for analytical or microbial testing; monitoring component temperatures including HACCP temperatures and checks; sampling components, and recording accurate information on all required forms.
Performing product/component hold duties in accordance with company policy.
Expected Ownership of the Environmental sampling and daily swabbing programs.
Prepare paperwork, shipping containers (ice packs), and coordination of sending swabs to outside lab for micro testing.
Communication to Quality Supervisor, and/or Quality Manager, and/or Production Supervisor of any out of specification analytical or micro result.
Performs calibration and preventive maintenance (as applicable) on analytical testing equipment both in the laboratory and in production as required.
Assist in training plant operators in quality test procedures.
Participate in plant self-inspections auditing of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Participate in internal audits against SQF standards
May serve as back-up to Quality Supervisor in their absence.
High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years related work experience.
Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
Basic computer skills.
Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Ability to interpret graphs and read measurements.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Basic microbial knowledge helpful.
