Accountable for managing plant Production and daily operations across multiple shifts and departments to produce products that meet established quality, customer service, safety, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies. Implements standard work and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor. Oversees the production of quality products to fulfill customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, human resources and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. Responsible for leading the development and implementation of continuous improvement methodology throughout the plant.
Understand performance metrics; analyze trends to understand performance opportunities and to close gaps
Provide leadership and mentoring to operations management to build technical and professional capability
Monitor daily production to ensure production requirements are met and targeted KPIs are achieved
Ensures 100% compliance with food safety and food quality expectations
Champions safety for the department’s while influencing plant wide safety performance
Monitor and manage department’s budget and spending
Act to meet the business needs of the Company while honoring the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Provide necessary support during new product development and rollout, and startups of new equipment
Execute organizational change and drive for continuous process improvement
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies and procedures, programs and practices
Maintain the ability to perform value added administrative/office work as required to ensure customer, plant and functional needs are met or exceeded
Anticipate the needs of the customer, plant and department in order to provide goods and services at the highest quality and the lowest cost
Ability to work flexible shift to develop team’s capability on all shifts
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Science, Business, Management, or other related field required
7 years of production manufacturing experience required, food preferred
5 years of management experience required
Union manufacturing experience preferred
Experience with Lean/TPM continuous improvement tools/methodology required
Proven ability to coach and develop associates
Technically oriented, comfortable around machinery and plant environment
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and take action
Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Ability to think and act strategically
Ability to work well under pressure with multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to work with people of different experiences and educational backgrounds
