Duties include the installation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of dehumidification machinery, cathodic protection equipment, fire and flooding alarms, including all related equipment such as motors, transformers, control panels, rectifiers, sensing devices, and automatic controls. In conjunction with the Inspection Department and using appropriate test equipment, makes periodic inspections and tests of all preservation equipment, recording necessary data for records and reports. Fabricates, installs, and wires various electrical parts such as switch panels, indicating devices, resistance heating units, lighting fixtures, and power or lighting cubicles.

Installs, repairs shore power to ships.
Shall be able to instruct Electrician Helper when assigned.
Provide input to ensure assignments are accomplished on time and within cost.
May be required to travel up to 25% to conduct company business.
Must know all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to the electrical evolutions and environmental protection.
Assist in the receipt, moor and departure of vessels.
Adhere to all corporate core values, policies, and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities.
Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times.
Must be available to work overtime if required.
May be exposed to electrical shock hazards, steel projections, fall hazards, poor lighting and hazardous chemicals and conditions.
Shall handle weights to 60 pounds with an average of 40 pounds and carry up to a distance of 200 feet.
Work phase is normally moderate with short periods of high activity during power outages, severe weather or ship movements.
Work may require working at extreme heights (not often), climbing vertical and inclined ladders and brief periods of strained positions, such as kneeling, stooping and maneuvering in close quarters.
Must observe safety precautions and ensure compliance in safety.


Three (3) years of relevant ship electrical experience or relevant experience in the military. Commercial electrical experience will be considered in lieu of shipboard experience. Must have a valid driverâ??s license and qualify to operate government/company vehicles in accordance with the Corporate Fleet Vehicle Safety Manual.

May be required to certify as a Crane Electrician and Crane Electrical Inspector IAW the NAVFAC P-307

Vocational or Journeyman certification.

General Information:

In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, the successful candidate must understand basic electricity, the tagout safety precautions and the danger of energized equipment.

Knowledge Required:

Must be able to read small print and hear sufficiently to detect unusual sounds in motors, blowers and running machinery. 3 phase wiring and 220 / 440 wiring.

Security Clearance:

Position requires an extensive background check.
Must be a US Citizen per Inactive Shipoff Instruction 5500.3B of 13 May 13
